Today's plebiscites are vital links to the venerable past which must not be forgotten as civilization progresses because brilliant ideas from antiquity are beacons ever illuminating the way to brighter days ahead! For, the highest order of democracy could be resurrected if the occasional use of the current initiative process was universalized again. After regaining the reins of government, voters would recommence addressing and resolving all contemporary civic problems via that equitable procedure, rather than deciding merely a few issues, thereby resurrecting a golden age when the electorate was fully enfranchised! To hasten the celebrated revival, boycott any inferior version of democracy in the meantime by not voting because participating in them simply validates and succors the defective models of democracy rather than mandating their replacement. Instead, help restore its original design by favoring the supplanting of its false forms with democracy's only true form, a return to the prototype of democracy truly of, by and for the  people!

direct voting on every public–sector issue is the only true brand of democracy and therefore is the definitive alternative to any paradigm of Representative Democracy all of which are elitist renditions of democracy intrinsically flawed by their inherent susceptibility to corruption and long plagued by egregious misrepresentation marked by repetitious cycles of dubious campaign promises followed by many a broken pledge resulting in many a discontented constituent frustrated by far too many unresolved civic problems owing to the routinely derelict leadership of a mere chosen few. A political system which focuses on merely a few elected leaders is merely a subservient cult of personality and not a genuine democracy. Whereas the egalitarian system of plebiscitary democracy empowers all voters to participate as equal leaders while marginalizing none as mere followers! A government of elected representatives is not Democracy's ultimate variation, merely its penultimate variant, a milestone in the millennial evolution of governance yet still just the last in a series of steppingstones leading from monarchy: rule by a king, to oligarchy: rule by just a few leaders, to rule by all The People: grass roots democracy, Democracy's optimal variety! The final step in the progressive ascent from imperfect democracy to its pinnacle of perfection must be taken so freedom can flourish, because a sound edifice of liberty erected upon the vital cornerstone of human rights requires an authentic republic for a sturdy foundation. For, without the solid fundament of a genuine democracy underpinning them, true freedom upheld by its stalwart pillars of civil liberties cannot stand firm nor endure. And, a country not founded on a bona fide democracy will not be truly free.

Why settle for its crumbs when Democracy's whole loaf is always available? A simple way to begin replacing a nominal democracy is by tweaking voting habits. While voters should continue to vote on the recalls plus propositions whenever such grass–roots initiatives appear upon the election ballots at the polls in those 24 states of the USA plus its District of Columbia all of which permit either recalls, initiatives or referenda upon such ballots, voters ought to cease from casting their votes for any of the candidates competing for the elective government offices listed upon such ballots.  Such selective voting is recommended as the first step to take in the course of jettisoning any bogus democracy while still participating in elections plus an ideal compromise for voters who rightly would feel irresponsible if they did not vote at all. The boycott is easy because it forces change peacefully by passive resistance against oppression: the adversary of Freedom, Democracy and Justice, one venerated trinity never victorious until its archenemy finally is vanquished!
